Brown rice roasting on an open fire



Ever wonder why green tea at restaurants taste so much better than at home? I was out for dinner with my husband and friend and we spoke with some workers at Kinjo in Dalhousie and they told us they serve Genmaicha tea which is mixed with brown rice. It keeps tea from tasting bitter and gives it more of a mellow taste.
To make, roast rice on a pan over low heat (no oil) for about 5 mins, stirring. Wait till it’s a rich brown and remove and let cool.
Add it into a tea sieve with loose leaf.
